My strategy on this level was to go for the Virus cube on the main island first (the one with the deactivated trunk port). Gain control of the incubator on the unoccpied island first. Send in squad after squad via a nearby radar dish and each time a new squad arrives create an engineer to try to capture the local dish. Once you succceed in capturing the local dish, squad creation becomes easier. The main problem with this island is the soul destroyers, these will take many attempts to kill. When they are down a neat trick, is to send in a squad then immediately create an engineer, let him grab a few souls (say 5 or 10) and send him out to sea, this prevents him being killed by the virus as he heads home, once out at sea he will head home. Repeat this proceedure several times evenutally the island will begin to run out of souls to convert and reaching the cube with your squad becomes easier. Tackling the island with the red army, the main problem is that it very quickly become virus infested even though there is none to start with. Also the cannon can be a pain especailly if you stop the game, it will regenerate when you reload. Top proirity take out the canon (several gerandes should work) then move on to the virus cube this is a bit of a fight but if you can time things correctly reaching it is possible. The trick is to kill the virus in your path as quickly as possible while ignoring the red DGs and run for it, this took me several attempts. The problem is that you cannot use the grab souls stategy becuase the red DGs provide a never ending supply of them. There is only one radar dish that appears to be able to see the dish closest to the last cube, (not 100% sure which one but I think it is the one on the un-occupied island) this is easiest to destroy once you get there, again, go in with a squad or 7 and get control of the radar dish at the (virus) island end, then a short walk with a squad armed with air strike should do the trick. All done but you want more...... Next job go soul hunting kill as much virus and grab it's souls as you can, (if you haven't completely cleared out the main temple area now is the time to do it) now gain control of the far radar on the red DG island, there is a spawn point very close by, this is easy to take with a large group of DG and a squad to grenade the area, once you have control of this spawn point it should be fairly easy to capture the second one in this area you can place a squad up on the raised hill between your new spawns and the other spawns. If placed correctly the red DGs can only approach from 2 sides both of which can be easily covered by 5 sqaud members with decent range grenades. The net result of this is that you are killing off lots of red DG but none of yours are deing. This island is balanced in that only so many DG can be created at each spawn so it is not possible to complete purely by using your squad to wipe out the advancing army. When you do not see any more DG forthcomming from your spawn point the time has come to push forward I recommend going for the spawn that is on it's own first since you can use the squad to keep re-inforcements from getting through. After you capture that spawn it is plain sailing. Page last modified on August 20, 2007, at 06:06 PM - Page generated in 0.063 seconds. |
