![]() Walkthrough: Create two Engineers next to C1 (the Control Tower near the large tree in the middle of the map. Send them down the laser fenced-in path to its entrance. You'll see a second break in the laser fence barrier, a whole whack of Virii, and a few Centipedes. Manouver the Engineers through the second break in the laser fences, avoiding the Virii. Then send one around the western island to reprogram C2, and one to the eastern island to reprogram C12. Reprogramming these Towers saves you from having to walk Squads all the way out of the fenced-in area. You can 'decompile' the Engineer at C12 once it's done its job. Create a Squad at C2, and clear out the enemies nearest to C3. Use two Engineers to reprogram C3, and you will gain control of the nearby Incubator, I1. Use the Engineers to start harvesting the souls left behind by the Virii. Harvesting as many souls as you can is important in this level, as you will need at least 150 Darwinians (DGs) to complete the level. It's a good idea to keep an Engineer or two harvesting souls as you eradicate the Virii. Ignore the DGs that come out of the Incubator for now, and clear out the rest of the enemies on the island, including the path back to C1. Recycle souls as you go, and reprogram C4 and C5, the 2 Towers with Radar Dishes. Next, either fly an Engineer over to reprogram the Control Tower at C6, or send a Squad through Radar Dish R2 to R3 and create an Engineer there. Take out the two Centipedes with a Sqaud, while an Engineer (or two) downloads the Research Cube. You now have access to the Officer program, which you can use to give your Darwinians marching orders. Now you have two islands left (each containing a Trunk Port that needs to be reprogrammed), one of which you already have a foothold on (the one with Control Tower C12 on it). You also now have the ability to run the Officer program, which will promote a DG to Officer status. Officers are the only direct way in the official game levels to control the movement of the DGs. Before tackling the two last islands, I would advise testing out your new Officer program to assemble the DGs you have amassed so far, and move them to the Tree in the shielded area. An easy way to do this is to make a trail with Officers, placing the first one at the Incubator, pointing the DGs in a straight line ahead to a GOTO point where the next Officer stands, which points them to the next Officer... and so on, the last Officer pointing at the peak of the hill/base of the Tree inside the shielded area. Also, don't forget to round up the DGs that are already inside the fenced in-area that just need to be directed to the Tree. Officers are not counted! ![]() Check the Task Manager? to see how many DGs you've amassed under the Tree - it's quite possible you've hit 150 already. If that is he case, you can activate the remaining Towers and Trunk Ports by just flying some Engineers over to the islands while avoiding the baddies. If you have close to 150, you can choose to invade just one island to harvest the souls, and send an Engineer to reprogram the Towers on the other one. Or optionally, wipe them out. All of them. Either or, at this point in the level it's smooth sailing. Note: You need to guide at least 150 DGs into the safety of the shielded area in the middle - but the game will only detect them if they are on the hill with the Tree on it (shown with a green circle on the map). That includes the DGs that are already within the shield - they must also be moved within the range of the Tree. If you've done everything else, and the Task Manager? still says the objective is incomplete, use Officers to herd all your DGs right to the top of the hill. Alternate Strategies: Do everything the same - BUT collect and activate the trunks first. Page last modified on December 03, 2006, at 04:00 PM - Page generated in 0.258 seconds. |
